Retreat Invitation

Meadowkirk’s work in retreat, respite and renewal holds a universal benefit and appeal.

In quietly evoking themes of holistic, biblical rest (physical, emotional, spiritual), Meadowkirk invites all who visit to experience stillness, natural beauty, relational engagement and contemplation –individually and in community, often as part of the simple act of breaking bread together.

In Mark 6:31a we read:

Come away, all of you, to a quiet place, and rest awhile.”

At Meadowkirk, this invitation is helping change hearts and lives. Given our belief that finding escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life is essential, Meadowkirk has built core retreat services — from the programmed to the unscripted — that enable groups of many sizes to pause and delight in God’s natural beauty. With the backdrop of the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains, Meadowkirk’s nature offers:

  • 6+ miles of trails

  • observatory stargazing

  • field games

  • large swimming pool

  • s’mores around fire pits dotting our property

  • guided watercolor gatherings at scenic spots

  • catch & release pond fishing

  • tube rides along Goose Creek

  • farm-to-table delights (kitchen gardens, chickens, ducks, beekeeping)

  • outdoor picnics and creekside barbecues

Our grounds are anchored by a beautiful campus comprising well-appointed lodging and meeting spaces (historic and modern), with plenty of room for both overnight guest retreats and day-meeting formats. These include: our B&B-style1905 Manor House; hotel-style Inn; rustic-style Cottages; spacious, open-air Pavilion; family-style, festoon-lit Dining Hall; and signature 19th-century meeting space, the Stone Barn.

Visitors can also enjoy close-by Middleburg, a community of special substance with dining, wineries/cideries, shopping, horseback riding, golf, history and culture.

Our time here is always so relaxing and such a gift. The food is amazing, the grounds are beautiful, and the hospitality makes Meadowkirk feel like home.
